Yesterday whilst the rest of the UK were enjoying a rainy Bank Holiday Monday the Royal Mail were busy publishing their report into them UK's most desirable postcodes crowning Tidworth SP9 the top spot for England.

Royal Mail's report was commisioned to mark the 40th anniversary of the allocation of postcodes to every address in Britain and uses a combination of factors including availability of jobs, quality of education, quality of healthcare, safety, environment and the affordability of housing.

If you are considering a move then perhaps you might like to take a look at these areas for yourself and the only thing missing from Royal Mail's blog article is a way to explore these locations for yourself so here comes the map bit.

We took the list of postal districts from the Royal Mail's article, the postcode district outlines from our good friends at GeoLytix , then averaged sale price of properties per postal district for 2013-2014 from Landregistries open data and finally plotted these using the immensly simple to use yet powerful CartoDB to create a map that lets you explore the locations and view properties and photos nearby.

Data produced by Land Registry © Crown copyright 2014.

If you are interested in finding out more about CartoDB and how you can use it in your business to create maps quickly using your own data then get in touch as we are now CartoDB partners and can help get you up and running in no time.
