Background

The Bing Maps team were looking for a partner to help plan and develop a range of Bing Map Apps for Bing and other 3rd parties. The Map Apps needed to be developed using the undocumented and unreleased beta SDK. Initially, the Map Apps were required for Foursquare, Oodle and the Bing Maps World Tour.

Why Earthware

Having partnered with Earthware to build the Bing Maps World Tour, the Microsoft Bing Enterprise Mapping team appreciated the expertise the Earthware team has in developing bespoke mapping solutions using the latest Bing Maps technology.

What did we deliver?

• Built a schematic of each Map App detailing the suggested functionality
• Developed three Bing Maps Apps using the initial release of the SDK
• An Azure hosted proxy service to scale Foursquare's real-time streaming API
• Ungraded Map Apps to each release of the SDK as it evolved to release candidate status
• Developed three sample applications for the final release of the Bing Maps Apps SDK
