Background

United Business Media (UBM) was looking for a mapping partner that could transition their offline mapping material for the Thames Gateway Forum, to a richer online mapping platform. The high traffic mapping solution was required to support their pitch at a conference just two months after they first approached Earthware, therefore UBM needed a scalable reliable hosting environment that could be quickly provisioned without involving their internal IT resources.

Why Earthware?

Earthware already had extensive experience with mapping large volumes of commercial property information on Novaloca.com so we were able to leverage existing experience and code to rapidly develop a rich online mapping experience to meet Thames Gateway's short delivery timeframe.

What Did We Deliver?

  • Commercial property map showcasing the Thames Gateway area of London including live property searches from Novaloca.com, local planning information from Barbour ABI and real time property news headlines from Property Week.
  • A scalable solution hosted on Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud computing platform
  • A rich interactive mapping platform using the Ordinance Survey "OpenSpace" platform showing high resolution OS Mastermap data.

Post Script

The mapping Earthware developed for Thames Gateway was used as a core communication and marketing application during the Thames Gateway Forum event in November 2009, therefore is no longer available to view online. Earthware are continuing to work with UBM to build upon this success. We are excited about the potential for a rich multi-media Microsoft Silverlight experience for next year.
