AJAX Maps and Earthware

Earthware has delivered more implementations in Bing Maps AJAX than any other mapping API with many of these being in commercial or residential property where Bird’s Eye imagery is so important. Our interactive property mapping product, EarthwareProperty, which has versions for commercial property mapping and for residential property mapping was developed using Bing Maps AJAX. Clients benefitting from this property mapping include NovaLoca, SEGRO, Paramount Investments, Residential Land, London Executive and Dreamspot.

We have also developed a number of bespoke Microsoft Bing Maps AJAX solutions for clients such as Financial Times, Voyana Cruises, LonRes, 3DVIA

About Bing Maps (AJAX)

Bing Maps AJAX was launched in 2005 to compete with Google Maps. It was based on existing Microsoft technologies (such as Microsoft MapPoint and TerraServer) but added new functionality including bird’s eye views and 3D maps which were well received. This really set Bing Maps apart and whilst the licensing costs were challenging to smaller organisations larger commercial organisations became interested, especially in real estate mapping where birds eye imagery was so valuable. However, recent changes to the licensing terms mean smaller commercial, educational and charity organisations can use Bing Maps within their website for free (with some limitations on imagery and traffic). See the Microsoft blog for further information.
